Donny Rockwell, Pastor/Planter
Donny was born in Wyoming but lived in the Tulsa area as a child and teenager. He became a Christian at age eight and followed God's calling to be in ministry in the church after his freshman year of college. After living in Alabama, South Carolina, and Texas, Donny returned home to T-Town in January of 2007 to serve as Children's Pastor with Memorial Baptist Church.
Family & Ministry: Donny has been married to the love of his life and best friend Rachel since 2004; they have three daughters. Donny has primarily worked with preschoolers, children, teens and their parents in both volunteer and positions with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, SC; First Baptist Tulsa, OK; and Wedgwood Baptist in Fort Worth, TX. He served on staff as associate youth minister at Lakeland Baptist in Lewisville, TX. He has been on missions ventures in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, West Virginia, North Carolina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Hungary and Switzerland. Donny serves as an area contact for CDM International.
Education & Vision: Donny received a B.A. with a major in Mass Communication From North Greenville College (now University) in Tigerville, South Carolina and a M.A. in Christian Education with concentrations in Communication and Student Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Donny's passion is for people to know Christ as Savior and surrender to his leadership as Lord, for parents to model a Christ-like life for their children, and for people of all ages to embrace God's call on their lives as they surrender themselves to Him. Donny has a desire for families to experience God's healing and restoration as a foundation for advancing the Kingdom of God among future generations.
Church Planting Journey: In 2009, God put church planting on Donny & Rachel's hearts. In the fall of 2010, Donny, with the blessing of his pastor, Dr. Marc Dreyer, Senior Pastor of Memorial Baptist Church in Tulsa, began the process of planting a church in the Tulsa metro area. In August 2011 Memorial voted to be the primary sponsoring church for Vintage Faith Church and has committed to providing people, finances and other resources toward this new church. At the end of December 2011 Donny will leave Memorial to focus full time on planting and pastoring Vintage Faith.
